Looking back on her journey, Farah feels incredibly grateful for the opportunities she has had to work with children and young people over the past 19 years across both educational and residential care settings. Her career began at Derby College, where she worked as an Inclusion and Support Specialist a role that sparked her passion for helping young people
overcome challenges and reach their full potential. Over the years, she has taken on a range of roles within residential children’s care homes, each one deepening her understanding of how to create environments where young people feel valued, supported, and empowered.
As she progressed into managerial roles within residential care, Farah became increasingly committed to removing unnecessary barriers and helping young people make safe, healthy, and informed choices in their lives. This passion also inspired her to further her education, earning a first-class degree in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), along with Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in Children, Young People and Families’ Practice. She is now preparing to begin her Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management and is excited to start a new chapter with Egret Care as a Registered Manager.
Through her experiences, Farah has learned that strong, compassionate leadership can transform both staff teams and the lives of young people in care. She believes deeply in fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and encouraged to grow. Outside of her professional life, Farah finds balance and creativity in gardening, swimming, and food artistry she especially enjoys designing intricate food sculptures. She also loves to travel and connect with different cultures, which has inspired her to learn and speak four languages. Each of these passions reminds her of the value of curiosity, care, and continuous learning qualities she strives to bring into her work every day.
