Responsible to Senior/Deputy, Homes Manager
Hours of work 37.5 on a rota basis covering 24 hours, 7 days a week 
Hourly rate £14 per Hour Unqualified / £15 per hour Qualified
Shift PatternNormal Full day is 15.5 + Sleep in Part Day is 12.5 hours with or without sleep in, times may vary to meet the needs of the Home.

Waking NightsOccasionally required to support young people in crisis
Emergency coverOccasionally cover will be required to cover absences and emergencies. There is an expectation that all staff provide immediate cover should they not be relieved by the next worker, until cover can be found.
Cover at other HomesAll staff will have an identified home their maybe occasional need to cover at other homes.
Holidays with service usersWhere appropriate there maybe a need to accompany young people on holidays, both within the UK and abroad. This would be by agreement with the manager.

Main Purpose of the Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will contribute to every aspect of care delivery and your own continued professional development. Providing support to young people who may have Learning Disabilities, SMEH or Complex Lives aged 0–18, and may have experienced challenges such as neglect, abuse, family breakdown, or other difficult life experiences
Key Duties and Responsibilities
-To support children and young people both within the home and in the community, providing flexible and supportive person centred care to encourage Growth, resilience and independence.
-Proactively support service users to access leisure, education and employment in accordance with their needs and wishes.
-Support and maintain the ethos, values and aims of the company whilst complying with organisational and external, policies, procedures, legislation, guidelines and standards related to the role.
-To act as the Key worker for individual young people when required by the home.
-Ensure that Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures are adhered to holistically when making decisions about care delivery.
-Where you have concerns, questions or doubt seek support including calling on call. Where you feel that these have not been managed appropriately, raise it with the Responsible Individual or refer to the Whistleblowing policy or Grievance procedure.
-To work in partnership with young People, the team, organisation, families, professionals and wider community to support the young person.
-Help young people to develop and maintain positive relationships with Families, professionals and the wider community.
-To communicate effectively, confidentially and in an appropriate manner with young people, families, professionals and the wider community. Seeking to build positive relationships and actively listen and record their views, decisions and choices.
-Training will be provided in behaviour management and restraint, as service users will occasionally display challenging behaviour which may be physical or verbal. Staff are expected to use this training to reduce behaviours by building positive relationships and using empathic care delivery.
-Support young people to understand and complete the complaints procedure or report any concerns.
-To carry out your role with respect for the rights of others maintaining Confidentiality and promoting Equality and Diversity.
-Attend and complete all training as required, attend staff meetings, supervisions and appraisals that will help develop good care practice.
-To keep accurate records of daily events for young people and the home, and provide detailed handovers to enable a continuous informed care delivery.
-Support young people in managing their health and wellbeing, and to provide personal care where appropriate. This includes providing all aspects of the administration of medication for young people when necessary. Ensure medical advice is sought if concerns about health or wellbeing are raised.
-Ensuring that you have read, understood and are implementing the organisational and young people’s, Risk assessments and Plans and keep accurate records to enable review and updates.
-When deemed competent by your line manager, update and review, Risk assessments and plans.
-Ensure that domestic chores, Finances and Audits are completed to ensure a clean and safe environment is maintained.·       To ensure you take responsibility for the Health and Safety of yourself and others. Especially reporting and recording hazards or near misses when they are noticed. Once reported ensuring action is taken by the appropriate person to make safe or repair.
-Any other responsibilities or duties within the reasonable capability and expectations of the role. Where necessary additional training will be provided.
