To lead the day-to-day delivery of a high-quality semi-independent supported accommodation service for young people aged 18–25 leaving care. The Team Leader will ensure the service is safe, compliant, and outcome-focused, supporting young people to develop independence, sustain tenancies, and improve their overall wellbeing.

You will oversee staff practice across housing-related support, safeguarding, health & safety, and benefits guidance, ensuring support is consistent, trauma-informed, and aligned with Egret Homes CIC values.


Key Result Areas

1. Service Leadership & Oversight

Lead and coordinate daily operations of the semi-independent service. Provide supervision, guidance, and support to staff, ensuring high standards of practice. Ensure delivery of person-centred, trauma-informed support for care leavers. Promote a positive, professional, and safeguarding-focused culture.

2. Safeguarding & Young People’s Wellbeing

Act as a safeguarding lead within the service, ensuring all concerns are appropriately managed and escalated. Promote the emotional wellbeing, resilience, and independence of young people. Support staff in managing risk, vulnerability, and complex behaviours. Ensure support aligns with Pathway Plans and Local Authority expectations.

3. Health & Safety & Property Management

Take responsibility for day-to-day health and safety compliance within the accommodation. Ensure risk assessments, fire safety checks, and incident reporting are completed and reviewed. Oversee property standards, repairs reporting, and maintenance coordination. Ensure the environment is safe, clean, and suitable for young people.

4. Housing-Related Support & Independence

Ensure staff support young people to:

  • Understand and maintain occupancy/licence agreements
  • Develop independent living skills (cooking, cleaning, routines)
  • Sustain their accommodation and prepare for move-on

Monitor progress and outcomes linked to independence goals.

5. Benefits, Education & Financial Support

Oversee support around:

  • Universal Credit and other entitlements
  • Budgeting and financial management
  • Access to education, training, and employment

Ensure young people are supported to maximise income and avoid rent arrears.

6. Multi-Agency Partnership Working

Work closely with:

  • Leaving Care Teams / Personal Advisors
  • Social workers
  • Mental health and support services
  • Education and employment providers

Attend and contribute to review meetings and planning processes.

7. Quality Assurance & Compliance

Ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality record keeping. Monitor staff recording, safeguarding logs, and key work sessions. Support audits, inspections, and service development. Ensure compliance with local authority standards, and organisational policies.

8. Incident & Risk Management

Lead responses to incidents, safeguarding concerns, and emergencies. Ensure appropriate actions, reporting, and follow-up. Provide guidance to staff on de-escalation and risk management strategies.

9. Budget/Financial Responsibility

Working with the Housing Operations Manager ensuring services are financially viable by collecting income and managing voids, arrears and budget spending.

The job holder will carry out any other duties that are deemed appropriate to the post.

Job holder will have acquired practical and procedural knowledge across a specialist area through on the job experience and/or additional qualifications. Most work undertaken will be of a routine nature requiring the job holder to follow established processes, practices, procedure and policies. The job holder will require a degree of persuasiveness/assertiveness when supporting our young people with their emotional and other support needs/management of staff. They will have developed interpersonal skills, developed training and development and motivation skills in relation to staff. The job holder is required to organise own workload. Planning horizon for this role, is measured in weeks to month by month. The job holder will not manage a budget, but job holder may have an impact on financial resources.

Many actions and decisions carried out by the Job holder will be determined predominantly by established and routine practices and processes however, there will be required for the job holder to interpret information or situations, solve varied problems or develop solution or plans over short term. Regular emotional demands are made on the job holder with occasional significant emotional demands. Considerable levels of work-related pressure will be experienced by the job holder.

Accountability (Freedom to Act/Magnitude/Type of Impact)

The jobholder will act within established practices, processes, procedures – some room for initiative. May involve responding independently to unexpected problems and situation with support from line management. Where there is deviation from established practices, etc., the jobholder can decide on what course of action. The job holder is accountable for the work assigned to them. There is usually only jobholders in this role within the designated area.

The job holder has considerable direct impact on well-being of individuals or groups of people. The job holder has considerable direct responsibility for supervision, direction and coordination or training and development of other employee in one site.

The job holder will be required to handle and process manual and computerised information where care, accuracy, confidentiality and security are important.

Physical Effort

The job holder does not require physical effort beyond what might be expected in the performance of jobs in a day-to-day office environment.

Work Environment

The jobholder will supervise a team within a supported accommodation environment where young adults are vulnerable and have multiple needs.

The responsibilities of this post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the post or level of responsibility entailed. The post may require working outside normal office hours from time to time.

The role will require the job holder to participate in the On-Call Rota supporting service out of hours.
